ORS & 3SS bring simpliTV to VIDAA OS-based Smart TVs and launch innovative Highlight Feature – a Replay Service in time for the European Football Championship


Austria’s national broadcast network operator ORS has launched its latest simpliTV app, developed and delivered by long-term core technology partner 3 Screen Solutions (3SS), for Hisense smart TVs, powered by the emerging operating system VIDAA

3SS also helped launch ORS’ novel simpliTV feature for football fans: Highlight Featurea Replay Service enables viewers to replay game highlights at any time during or after a live match

The smart TV app was launched remarkably fast – in under three months from kick-off including certification –successfully achieving ORS’ goal of completion prior to the European football championship: 3Ready was primed for VIDAA OS deployment, 3SS having early on recognized VIDAA’s scaling potential

Stuttgart, Germany – 6 June, 20243 Screen Solutions (3SS), leading provider of software solutions for set-top boxes (STB), smart TV, multiscreen and in-vehicle entertainment, announces that Austria’s national broadcast network operator ORS has gone live on Hisense smart TVs with its super-aggregated multiscreen simpliTV service. The app is powered by the emerging VIDAA operating system.

ORS continued to rely on long-term core technology partner 3SS to deliver this strategically important reach-extending service enhancement, as well as deploy a new UX innovation specifically created for football fans.

New simpliTV Highlight Feature –a Replay Service

ORS has launched the Highlight Feature – a Replay Service, enabling customers to re-watch game highlights even while the match is still underway, or afterwards. It is expected that this innovation will especially appeal to groups of friends enjoying the match together.

This new enhancement is being made available to all simpliTV users for a promotional period of two months to enjoy on multiple simpliTV receiving devices – on hybrid STB, Samsung, LG and Android smart TVs.

Project delivery was fast; with the smart TV app launched in under three months from kick-off including certification. The project-critical objective, ORS’ fundamental requirement, was completion in time for the European football tournament – of which Hisense is an official gold sponsor – taking place 14 June to 14 July 2024 in Germany.

As with multiple earlier simpliTV service launches, both new simpliTV enhancements deliver superior UX thanks to 3SS’ award winning 3Ready Product Framework. 3SS early on recognized the potential of VIDAA OS to help operators reach new audiences and therefore added support in 3Ready to easily scale existing smart TV apps to VIDAA.

Kicking off its staged multiplatform rollout in May 2021, simpliTV launched custom apps for Samsung connected TVs – sold in Austria with simpliTV pre-loaded – as well as LG webOS and Android smart TVs. In the same year, ORS was honored with a VideoTech Innovation Award in recognition of its novel technological approach to its smart TV apps, which enable seamless switching between DVB live TV to timeshift via streaming.

ORS launched its next-generation hybrid digital satellite and terrestrial STB, the Skyworth-built simpliONE Box, featuring advanced 3SS-engineered UX in May 2022.
